American Katerra Joined the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)

American Katerra (AKL) is pleased to be joining the ranks of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). The announcement of this milestone is a notable step forward in our commitment to pioneering innovative, sustainable steel and other high-quality solutions from which we can build. With a passion for modular and off-site construction, becoming part of AISC complements our vision to provide the right choice for building projects that will meet our customers’ high tolerance demand and demand.

Founded in 1921, the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) is a not-for-profit technical institute and trade association in the United States. Based in Chicago, AISC is the national voice of the steel business in the steel industry, and represents architects, engineers, and contractors, as well as other construction agencies, as the face of AEC. AISC seeks to encourage the use of structural steel by establishing standards of workmanship and product features that are both safe, inexpensive, and innovative, through the establishment of the use of structural materials. They drive advances to make steel the most cost-effective, sustainable, and resilient structural material available.

  The AISC provides essential materials, such as: the AISC Steel Construction Manual, the Specification for Structural Steel Buildings, and the Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges. These documents set the standards for design, fabrication, and erection of steel structures.
• Education and Training:
  Delivering seminars, webinars and conferences (e.g., the annual NASCC: The Steel Conference), and certification programs to ensure individuals remain on the cutting edge of industry best practices.
• Research and Innovation:
  Funds research and initiatives that improve steel performance in areas like sustainability, seismic resistance and fire protection.
• Advocacy and Networking:
  Supporting the policy discussion and networking among members to address issues.

AISC is the home of over 1,000 member companies and professionals who play a central role in ensuring steel stays the most preferable choice for modern construction, with an emphasis on quality, safety, and environmental responsibility.
