Job Summary
We are seeking a driven and strategic Sales Engineer to serve as a key liaison between our San Antonio operations and the American steel and construction market. In this role, you will focus on expanding our market, generating high-value leads, and ensuring seamless alignment between our leadership team and domestic partners. This position offers a premier opportunity to blend professional sales expertise with technical industry insights to drive business growth and build a more sustainable future from the foundation up.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Sales:
- Identify and qualify new leads within the construction, architecture, and structural engineering sectors.
- Conduct outreach via phone, email, and LinkedIn to introduce American Katerra’s innovative structural steel and BIM solutions.
- Schedule and coordinate sales presentations and facility tours for prospective clients and investors.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and track the sales pipeline to ensure revenue targets are met.
2. Professional Communication & Client Relations:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for domestic clients, ensuring prompt, professional, and clear communication across all channels.
- Coordinate communication flows among the local sales team, project managers, and executive leadership to ensure client requirements are accurately met.
- Prepare and deliver clear, engaging sales pitches and follow-up communications tailored to diverse stakeholders.
3. Document Creation & Management:
- Draft, format, and produce professional business documents, including sales presentations, project bids, and official company letters.
- Collaborate with the technical and sustainability teams to create marketing materials and technical data sheets that clearly communicate our Green & Blue Carbon Steel™ initiatives.
4. Project & Office Support:
- Assist the leadership team in drafting and proofreading sales contracts, proposals, and client agreements.
- Step in to support office operations, travel booking, or data entry for the sustainability team during peak project phases.
Qualifications and Skills
Core Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Civil, Structural, Environmental, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field.
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive client data and company contracts with total confidentiality.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Technical Skills
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Precision in translating technical terminology related to engineering or manufacturing.
Preferred Skills
- 0–2 years of experience in sales, customer service, or an administrative role.
- Previous experience in a startup, construction, or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Japanese culture, language, or business customs.
Physical Requirements & Location
- This is an in-person role based out of our San Antonio office.
- Candidates must be able to relocate to San Antonio immediately upon hiring.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation, Hours & Benefits
Compensation & Schedule
- Annual Salary: $45,000–$60,000 (based on experience).
- Status: Exempt. This is a salaried position and is not eligible for overtime pay; the salary compensates for all hours worked.
- Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Business Travel Guidelines
- Travel Requirements: Domestic or international travel may be required to support regional PR events, training sessions, or corporate planning initiatives. A valid driver’s license is required.
- Expense Reimbursement: All pre-approved business travel expenses—including flights, lodging, and local transportation—will be fully covered or reimbursed by the Company. Meals and incidental expenses during business travel will be covered via a company-designated per diem allowance, in accordance with our corporate travel policy.
- Travel Coordination: Team members are expected to log and coordinate all itineraries through the internal administrative system prior to departure.
