Job Summary
We are looking for a versatile Human Resources Associate who thrives in a “non-siloed” environment. In this role, you won’t just be filing paperwork; you will be the heartbeat of our San Antonio office. You will juggle traditional HR duties (recruiting, payroll, compliance) with office operations and culture-building. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys wearing many hats and wants to help build a company from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:
- Draft job descriptions, post openings, screen resumes, and schedule interviews for engineering and technical staff.
- Manage the new-hire process, from preparing offer letters to setting up workstations and conducting initial safety and company mission briefings.
- Maintain organized digital and physical employee files, ensuring high levels of confidentiality.
- Track hours and overtime for non-exempt employees and assist with the administration of
medical, dental, and 401k plans. - Manage I-9 documentation to ensure federal employment eligibility compliance.
2. Office Operations & Facility Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for office vendors, including IT support, cleaning services, and supply deliveries.
- Ensure the San Antonio office is professional, stocked, and functional for the team.
- Support the engineering team in maintaining OSHA compliance and keeping safety documentation up to date.
3. General Administrative
- Provide occasional administrative support to the leadership team, including document proofreading and scheduling.
- Assist in booking travel for team members and managing expense reports.
- Step in to assist with data entry or project coordination for the Sustainability or Supply Chain teams during peak periods.
Qualifications and Skills
Core Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- High degree of integrity and the ability to handle confidential employee information with total discretion.
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- 18+ years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
Technical Skills
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- General comfort learning new software systems (such as Payroll/HRIS portals or project management tools).
- Precision in data entry and record-keeping, especially regarding payroll and labor law compliance.
Preferred Skills
- 1-3 years of experience in an HR or Office Administrative role.
Previous experience working in a startup. - Familiarity with tracking hourly logs and calculating overtime pay (1.5x) for non-exempt staff.
- Experience using job boards (LinkedIn, Indeed) and conducting initial phone screenings.

Compensation, Hours, & Benefits
Salary Based on Experience
- $40,000 – $50,000
Working Hours
- Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (including a one-hour meal break).
- As a non-exempt position, all hours worked exceeding 40 per week are compensated at 1.5 times the hourly rate.
- Occasional travel and international coordination may require flexible hours and overtime based on project necessity.

Physical Requirements & Location
- This is an in-person role based in our San Antonio office.
- Candidates must be able to relocate to San Antonio immediately upon hiring.
