We are seeking a versatile and motivated Architectural Structural Engineer to join our innovative team. This role is designed for a professional who enjoys the intersection of architectural aesthetics and structural stability. Unlike traditional engineering roles, this position offers the chance to work across the entire project lifecycle—from initial 3D modeling to the implementation of low-carbon materials—within a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Structural Detailing and Modeling

  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D structural models using specialized software, including Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, and other BIM-related tools.
  • Perform basic structural analysis and load calculations to ensure the integrity of building elements (foundations, beams, and columns).
  • Translate architectural concepts into buildable structural plans, ensuring seamless integration between design and fabrication.

2. Project Development and Support

  • Actively participate in multi-functional tasks, including supply chain coordination and assisting with fabrication-ready designs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure engineering solutions align with project timelines and company GHG reduction goals.
  • Conduct site assessments and design reviews to optimize for both safety and ease of assembly.

3. Sustainability Integration

  • Utilize Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) principles to select materials that minimize embodied carbon.
  • Contribute to the implementation of Green Carbon Steel™ in structural designs to meet company sustainability targets.
  • Evaluate how design choices impact the overall environmental footprint of a project.

4. Cost Estimation and Optimization

  • Provide accurate quantity take-offs and assist in developing cost estimates derived from BIM models.
  • Ensure structural designs are cost-effective and optimized for fabrication without compromising quality.

Qualifications and Skills

Core Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting/Design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D modeling software.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with BIM processes and tools.
  • Understanding of sustainable design principles and LCA methodologies.
