American Katerra had a meeting with the Metro SA Chamber in July 2025. This lively conversation showcased our dedication to sustainable steel manufacturing and our enthusiasm for planting our roots in San Antonio.
Every now and again, it’s personally rewarding to be reminded that our company’s partnership in the community has achieved something as a whole that will impact us as individuals long into the future. Mr. Brett Finley, Metro SA Chamber, posted briefly on LinkedIn about the article and the combined efforts.

A Positive Discussion About Growth and Innovation

During the meeting, our President & CEO, Toyokazu Yamaguchi, MBA, EMP, and Vice President, Kazuhiko Tsujimoto, shared American Katerra’s vision of becoming a sustainable steel manufacturing industry leader. As a U.S. subsidiary of Japan’s Yamaguchi Heavy Industries, we are introducing global expertise to Texas, zeroing in on green approaches in harmony with San Antonio’s progressive commercial culture. The Metro SA Chamber welcomed our operations and lauded our decision to establish a presence in this dynamic city.
We especially appreciate greater: SATX & Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai for the leadership he provided to bring American Katerra to the San Antonio region. Lastly, we want to thank Paul Ponzica of PNC Bank for connecting us to that introduction that made all these connections possible.

Why U.S.-Based Katerra Is a Leader in Sustainable Steel
Established in October 2024, American Katerra is a mission-driven company with headquarters at the premier Weston Centre in the West End of downtown San Antonio. We are unique in our orientation towards sustainability, state-of-the-art technology, and global-global interactions:
Sustainability at the Core
As the industry leaders in green steelmaking, we embed carbon management into our business plan, including through the use of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and targets such as 50% of low emission steel procurement by 2030. Our focus on “Green Carbon Steel” and renewable energy usage are anything but normal as we strive to set a new standard as we look to clever ways of minimizing our environmental footprint while delivering to you the highest-quality materials.
Cutting-Edge Technology
We use advanced technology like Building Information Modelling (BIM), welding robots, and carbon capture and storage (CCS) to change the way we work. It will improve precision, streamline production, and minimize waste, a state-of-the-art standard in 21st-century building techniques that recently landed in the Texas market.
Global Vision with Local Impact
Through our relationship with Yamaguchi Heavy Industries and with partners such as STATION Ai, we integrate knowledge on a global scale for local projects. Our presence in San Antonio generates good jobs and stimulates growth, adding to the community’s progressive can-do attitude.
Paving the Way For a Better Tomorrow
The Metro SA Chamber’s excitement further confirms why San Antonio is such a great home to house American Katerra. The mix of new and old in the city reflects our values, and we are looking forward to working together on projects that drive sustainable growth and global business.
As we grow, American Katerra remains concerned with bettering the steel fabrication industry as we are involved in a responsible and community-engaging industry. We are eager to continue to explore new opportunities as we expand our presence in the greater San Antonio region.
